The Foundation funds both clinical and non-clinical research to enable effective treatments and, ultimately, find a cure for NF. About Neurofibromatosis: Neurofibromatosis (NF)is a set of genetic disorders that, in its most common form, affects one in every 3,000 births, and causes tumors to grow anywhere throughout the body. Half of all cases occur as a result of a spontaneous genetic mutation, with the child’s family having no genetic history of the disorder. NF affects both sexes, all races and ethnic groups equally. NF is more prevalent than cystic fibrosis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy and Huntington’s disease combined. For information on CTF and NF please visit: www.ctf.org or www.racing4research.org |
